Editor’s note

Data observability raised a fortune to tell you the instant a number breaks. It is genuinely useful, and it is also a confession: we will invest heavily to monitor a figure we never agreed on. One floor down, master data management has returned wearing an AI badge, because models need the single definition of "customer" that MDM always promised and rarely delivered. Put the two together and the week's lesson is plain — money flows readily to the instruments that watch the work, and reluctantly to the boring meeting where the work is actually decided.
